Cavs Prospect Viewing Guide for this Saturday in March Madness
Just like Friday's Draft Prospect Guide, this will also focus on the lesser known and lower graded prospects that will be in play for us in the late 1st and early 2nd rd of the draft. But before we look forward let's take a look at some of the prospects in yesterday's feature. There were a lot of solid efforts but a few whose play stood out.
Winners:
CJ McCollum; PG/SG Lehigh - Canton's own propelled the little engine that could in the signature upset of the tourney thus far. While he didn't shoot a great percentage he had an outstanding all around effort with 30 pts, 6 rebs, and 6 assts.
Andrew Nicholson; PF/SF St Bonaventure - Another mid major prospect who tried his best to pull off an upset. I certainly undersold his offensive capabilities as he flashed more of a perimeter game than I expected. He kept the upset bid alive as long as he could by posting 20 pts and 7 rebs against a pretty stingy D.
Draymond Green; PF/SF Michigan St - It will be interesting to monitor his play as the competition level rises. But as I stated yesterday, he shoots, he boards, he passes. He put up 24, 12, and 10.
If you broke down 2nd round success stories and where they were coming into the draft the longest list by far is under-measured, position misfit, NCAA upperclassmen. All three of these top performers fit that profile.
Time to look forward now to Saturday's players to watch. My guess is most of you already know a few of them well.
2:45 OSU vs Gonzaga
Deshaun Thomas; SF, OSU - Can score from inside and out. Lacks top end athleticism.
William Buford; SG, OSU - Solid outside shooter. Streak scorer.
6:10 Vandy vs Wisconsin
John Jenkins; SG, Vanderbilt - Undersized SG. Sharpshooter.
Festus Ezeli, C, Vanderbilt - Unpolished offensive game. Athletic big. Shot blocker.
7:45 Iowa St vs Kentucky
Royce White; PF, Iowa St - Physical and athletic, has scoring tools but character concerns.
Doron Lamb; SG, Kentucky - He can score and handle the ball, but as many in this range is undersized.
8:40 Colorado vs Baylor
Andre Roberson; SF, Colorado - Freak athlete who can board and run the floor. Limited O.
Hopefully we get a chance to see some more big time performances from some of the players that may be available to us later in the draft.
