Cavs Pick Up Skyenga's Option
In reporting the Christian Eyenga extension news, Bob Finnan said "the Cavaliers have devoted a lot of time, effort and money on swingman Christian Eyenga" - and we have too here at Stepien Rules. For example, the amount of dollars that Dave Wooley commanded in exchange for his Skyenga Points Tracker series grew exponentially as this past season went on. But after reading that Christian will be around a little while longer yesterday, we can't help but think all of our time and money has been well spent.
From The News-Herald on Wednesday:
"Skyenga" started 18 games last season for the Cavs and his numbers were slightly better: 8.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 40.5 percent shooting. The Republic of Congo native was the 30th overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. He spent one season playing in Spain. Eyenga very much remains in the Cavs' plans and is the team's most athletic player."
As always Bob, great use of Skyenga, we've always appreciated your consistency with that. And well said as far as Eyenga being the Cavs' most athletic player. Just like you can't coach size, you can't coach up the type of athleticism Skyenga brings to the floor either. Which makes his prospects intriguing moving forward, and probably went a long way towards helping him earn this extension as well. Congrats Christian, good stuff buddy.
