As a result of the Lockout, NBA teams will only play a couple of preseason games. Not the worst thing ever.
Those two games the Cavaliers will play will be against the Detroit Pistons, as the team announced earlier today.
One game at their place, and one game down at the Q.
Across the League, the preseason scheduling was driven from a geographical standpoint to minimize travel and save time in this shortened format. The Clippers are playing the Lakers, Nets playing the Knicks, and with that Cleveland vs. Detroit obviously.
The formal announcement coming earlier today by the Cavs:
The first game will take place at Detroit on Friday, Dec. 16th at 7:30 p.m. with the rematch taking place four days later at Quicken Loans Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 20th at 7:00 p.m. On-sale dates and information for the home preseason game and the full regular season schedule will be announced next week (the week of December 12th).
In between those two games the Cleveland Cavaliers will be welcoming their fans back into the Quicken Loans Arena for the Wine and Gold scrimmage on Sunday December 18th at 1pm as well. This is a change from playing the game in Akron over the last few seasons, and it is also FREE to the public. Details on the FREE intra-squad scrimmage will be announced next week.
I'm looking forward to watching both Kyrie Irving and Brandon Knight go head-to-head in making their respective NBA debut's against each other too in this preseason series. Irving obviously the 1st pick overall by the Cavaliers, and Knight ended up going 8th to Detroit if you recall.
Should be a fun way to start a fun season, and we'll talk more about it next week.
Have a great weekend.
