A lot of people want Varejao...including Denver

In a story about who might be included in a Carmelo Anthony deal, Ken Berger from CBS wrote the following yesterday:

"From the beginning of the Melodrama, Denver's wish list of veteran replacements for Anthony has been consistent:Joakim Noah, Andrei Kirilenko, Andre Iguodala, Gerald Wallace or Anderson Varejao.

Sources say numerous teams have inquired about Varejao, but the Cavs won't even entertain such talks unless they're getting a superstar in return; Anthony, for one, has made it clear he wouldn't sign an extension in Cleveland."

Now obviously there's no way that Carmelo would ever come to Cleveland.  Ever.  So that's not why I point this out.  I do so only for two reasons.  One, I suppose now it's possible that Andy could be included in a 3 or 4 way deal that eventually moves 'Melo somewhere other than Cleveland whereas that never crossed my mind before.  Who the Cavs could get back in a scenario like that is anyone's guess.

The second reason I mention this is only to say that I hope Andy doesn't get dealt.  I put the guy's picture in the banner here at Stepien Rules for a reason.  He could be a building block...the defensive anchor inside to Hickson's explosive offensive abilities around the basket.  I don't want him traded, I like the Cavs front-line prospects this season...but anything could happen I suppose.
