Stephen Jackson Anyone?
Written by Brendan Bowers

If Stephen Jackson didn't get hit with a $25,000 fine last Tuesday for publicly requesting to be traded to Cleveland - as well as a handful of other teams - he just might have chimed in this week with a 'so what's up Cleveland, how about now?'  Admittedly, I didn't read too much into the comments he made to Dime Magazine back in August when he first made them.  But then again, back in August, Delonte West was still rolling with hot sauce in his guitar case bag.

With the questions that currently surround  Delonte West, it would be prudent of the Cavaliers to at least re-examine this possibility.  Fact is, Ferry felt the team needed to add depth in the form of a rotation level guard (that means Daniel Gibson doesn't count) this offseason, so he went out and signed Anthony Parker.  Parker looks good with Mo and Delonte.  But what if its just Mo?  Then we're back to Daniel Gibson again playing big minutes...not ideal.

I guess there is that looming question though of is it even possible for the Cavaliers to come up with something to trade the Warriors as compensation for Jackson?  Not really...unless you wanted to trade Zydrunas Ilgauskas and his expiring contract.  What, is that crazy?  Stephen Jackson and Ronny Turiaf for Zydrunas Ilgauskas works on realgm.com, so what's the problem?  Oh and by the way, Jackson did average 20.7 points, and 6.5 assists per game last season - just sayin'.

Truth be told, I hope it doesn't come to that.  I hope Delonte is allowed to play - both by the State of Maryland and the NBA - and I hope he gets the help necessary to go through the NBA season - and his life - as a healthy and productive contributor.  But if he can't, or he doesn't, the Cavaliers may need to consider a plan B.  Its kind of an important season.
