Cavs Beat: Delonte West Situation
Written by Brendan Bowers
Sunday, 20 September 2009 16:34

While no new details have emerged in the Delonte West arrest since the initial reports on Friday, Cavs' beat reporters - Bob Finnan and Brian Windhorst - have each weighed-in recently, offering perspective and insight into the current situation.  Links and excerpts from their articles discussing the prospects going forward for both Delonte West and the Cavaliers are below:

Finnan: Consequences Could be Harsh for West, Cavaliers - The News Herald, Bob Finnan:

"Not only will West likely face suspension from the NBA, it's possible he'll have to do jail time...Timberwolves guard Sebastian Telfair was suspended for three games for having a loaded gun in his possession.  Don't be shocked if West is not eligible to play for several games this season."

Delonte West's firearms arrest another challenge for the Cleveland Cavaliers Plain Dealer, Brian Windhorst:

"The last 12 months have been a constant and complex balancing act for West and the Cavaliers, who dearly love their hard-nosed guard’s personality and ability. What to do about this latest situation might prove the most dicey.  Though they would never talk about these issues publicly and discuss it very little privately, it has been a challenge for the team on how to handle West."

No slight intended Bob Finnan's way - who does a great job - but Windy's article here is a must read.  The excerpt doesn't come close to doing it justice...click on the link above and read the whole thing.
